Tuilagi Switches to Adidas
It appears that Pumas association with some of the top rugby players in the UK is coming to an end after Manu Tuilagi was the latest player to have switch to a competitor.
The Leicester Tigers and England centre has worn Puma boots, along with his brothers, for the past few seasons although did make a brief switch to Adidas back in 2010 before returning to Puma. Tuilagi has been one of the lead players for Puma in recent seasons and was recently used to advertise their latest boot the Spirit however never wore the boots on pitch due to injury.
From what we understand, Tuilagi had around 48 hours to wear in his new boots before England’s fixture in Ireland as he was spotted training in his old Puma Kings in the week building up to the match.
It came as a surprise to ourselves that he opted for he RS7 due to it having a Sprint Skin Upper which is totally different from the k leather that his old boots were made from. The move has come at the perfect time for Adidas as they are the manufacturer of all the British & Irish Lions kit and Tuilagi expected to feature.
As well as a Sprint Skin Upper the boots also feature a Sprint frame that is an incredible 50% lighter than all other regular TPU outsoles, a Hybrid sole plate which utilises a combination of moulded and screw-in studs for optimal grip and traction across soft natural surfaces and the inclusion of Adidas’s Sprintframe outsole construction which is designed to improve stability and reduce the weight of the boots.
There have been a number of other former Puma players also making the move over to Adidas RS7 III including Scotland winger Tim Visser and Baths‘ rugby league convert Kyle Eastmond.

On a somewhat unrelated note, though related to Adidas. Why is the Adidas Super 15 Range so limited this year? I was looking forward to my New Chiefs Jersey but it’s not available in the UK. Can you offer any help as to why? Cheers.
