Training through the winter takes added motivation and commitment as the long dark nights are not exactly inviting for even the hardiest of athletes. Given the choice of extra hours curled up in bed or facing the prospect of the elements outdoors and you would be forgiven for opting for the former.

Nike know exactly your dilemma though and are at hand to help get you out the front door and light up your training with the release of their new Flash Pack collection. These are not just ordinary running shoes but ones which combine the latest performance technologies with cutting-edge reflective technology.

Designed to keep you visible and comfortable as you light up the streets, both the Nike Free 5.0 and Nike Lunarglide 5 have been given a makeover whilst retaining the same comfort and performance which has already established them as leading running shoes.

Nike Free 5.0+ Flash Pack Running Shoe

Modelled around and taking inspiration from the growing style for barefoot running, the Nike Free 5.0+ Shield has been designed to maximise your foot’s natural range of motion whilst ensuring a smooth run with cushioning and support.

Feathering the scales at just 237g (UK size 8), these running shoes excel in introducing innovative features to take your running to a whole new world. With Flywire technology applied down the sides, this delivers superior support without adding to the weight whilst the Dynamic Support System provides a custom fit and lightweight lock-down.

Unlike many other running shoes, the Nike Free 5.0+ incorporates a sock-lite fit which hugs the foot but still allows for easy access when slipping on and off. The ‘Shield’ aspect of the title relates to this shoe being prepared to take on the cold and rain so that you are free to concentrate on your performance.

If you were not already impressed then brace yourself for the truly innovative feature of these running shoes – flex groves across the sole. Designed to enhance a natural range of motions, running has and never will be the same again. Sat aside the low-profile phylite midsole, a resilient ride is assured mile after mile.

Featuring updated Flywire technology for enhanced support, the mesh inner sleeve wraps around the foot whilst the Dynamic Support System provides a custom fit and lightweight lock-down to keep you foot securely in place.

For a spring in your step, Lunarlon cushioning provides a durable midsole that will keep you going that extra mile. This has been inspired by astronauts bounding across the surface of the moon and Nike wanting to replicate the ultra-cushioned image. The result is Lunarlon, weighing in 30% lighter than Nike’s standard Phylon foam and a feel which is out of this world.

Running in the cold and wet is never a pleasant experience but with a three-layer mesh upper and  mesh tongue, these repel water without limiting breathability. There is even added warmth courtesy of the micro fleece collar and tongue lining so no more excuses about the conditions when wearing these trainers.

Be seen. Star dry. With the Nike Flash Pack, it’s always time to run.
