The 6 Nations So Far
With just two rounds of action remaining as we approach the business end of the 2014 6 Nations tournament, we thought it a good time to look back on the action so far and in particular the competitions we have been running on our Lovell Rugby Facebook and Twitter sites.
Prior to the tournament commencing we asked you to get involved with the 6 Nations action by selecting the outcome of the final table along with which rugby boot you thought would we worn by the top try scorer in the competition. With some great prizes up for grabs, for those of you who entered then there is plenty of reason to stay excited as we won’t know the outcome until the very last game.
Casting an eye over the top try scoring boot in the 2014 6 Nations and after three rounds there have already been a total of 28 tries scored, meaning an average of 3.1 per game. This of course means plenty of action to report in our Top Try Scoring Boot competition with the adidas Predator currently leading the way on eight tries, closely followed by the Nike Tiempo and adidas RS7 rugby boots on six apiece.
So far six players share the lead with two tries each and although it is clear that the favourites as worn by the professionals are adidas and Nike, the inclusion of the Under Armour Blur Carbon makes for an interesting presence on our boot scoring table. With six matches remaining there is still plenty of time for any rugby boot to top the table, with every try making a difference leading up to the final action on March 15th.
For those who predicted the final table of the 6 Nations then it couldn’t be any closer as four teams are currently tied and it’s anyone’s guess as to the final standings. Whilst it may come as no surprise as to which teams are in the mix, just how tight it is shows just why many consider the 6 Nations to be the most exciting international tournament outside of the Rugby World Cup.
Whilst Ireland do hold the slight advantage in terms of points difference, head-to-head results are sure to prove more decisive. Two exciting fixtures which still remain are that of England v Wales in the next round and France v Ireland in the final match of the whole tournament. It would take a brave person to predict the final 6 Nations table but we are sure some of our fans have guessed correctly.
Remember that throughout the 6 Nations, Lovell Rugby will be bringing you lots of exciting competitions and prizes, so keep a look out on our Facebook and Twitter sites.
