Standing out at the weekend
The second weekend of summer internationals took place Down Under on Saturday and there was plenty to play for at the start of each game. England had a strong chance of a win over New Zealand in their own back yard, France wanted to improve on the 50-23 thumping Australia gave them the weekend before and Wales were looking to celebrate Adam Jones’ 100th cap in style by defeating the Springboks.
We have taken a brief look at each match along with who/what stood out to ourselves. Check it out below.
Try scoring return for Chris Ashton
The 28-27 scoreline is a false representation of the two performances that we saw on Saturday morning. England went in at the break 6-13 up but the All Blacks flicked the switch at half time. Tries from Ben Smith, Savea and Nonu put the game to bed before Mike Brown and Chris Ashton went over for the visitors.
It was hard to miss the returning Ashton, who had not featured for England since the Autumn, in his Vibrant Yellow, Black and Neo Lime Nike Hypervenom boots.
Nick Cummins slips in to a pair of UA ClutchFit’s
6-0 says it all really. Some are calling it the most boring test match of recent times. Last weekend this same fixture produced 73 points, including 9 tries, as Australia crushed France! Thankfully Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins made us smile in the pre-match press conference with this gem; “As busy as a one legged man in a bum kickin’ comp!”
Surprisingly, Cummins ditched his Asics on Saturday and wore a pair of the new Under Armour ClutchFit Rugby Boots instead.
South Africa come out on top against Wales
The Springboks made it three wins from three for the SANZAR nations at the weekend with a 38-16 victory of Wales. The hosts scored five tries courtesy of Vermeulen, Le Roux, Hendricks and a Habana double. At the heart of it all though was the second row pairing of Matfield and Botha. You wouldn’t think that they are 37 and 34 respectively.
Matfield was sporting a pair of Puma King Universal H8 SG Rugby Boots Black/White/Blazing Yellow.
