Rugby Boot Spotting – RWC Semi Finals
After 20 teams started the competition back in September, only two remain; hosts New Zealand and an under-performing France side. The All Blacks brushed aside Australia in their Semi Final whilst France narrowly defeated a Wales team that played with 14 players for just over an hour. Wales will now face Australia in a 3rd place play off on Saturday before the Final on Sunday.
Boot spotted this time around are Welsh prop Adam Jones in Adidas Flankers, Australia’s Rocky Elsom in a pair of Asics and New Zealand try scorer and Adidas RS7 wearer Ma’a Nonu. Also featured are Wales’s Bradley Davies in Asics Lethal Warno Boots and Mike Phillips sporting White and Gold Adidas Predators.
The welsh props game was a short one as he was forced off early with injury. The Ospreys man is everpresent for both club and country, and will be looking ahead to the Lions tour in Australia in two years time.
Plays for: Brumbies and Australia
The former captain had a quiet night against the All Blacks apart from trying to rip Andrew Hore’s headguard off. Both Australia and Brumbies will be hoping that he can go away before the Super 15 season commences and find the form that he produced in his time spent at Leinster.
A contender for “Player of the Tournement” after his try-scoring display against the Wallabies. The try will be remembered for the break and offload by White and Red RS7 wearer Israel Dagg. It is more than likely that this try will make the shortlist for “Try of the Tournement”.
After the 3rd place play-off with Australia, it is back to the RaboDirect Pro 12 League for the second rower. Game time has been limited for Davies at the RWC however he will be hoping to stake a claim for a 6 Nations starting spot as he is in the starting XV on Saturday.
Plays for: Bayonne and Wales
Phillips begins his Top 14 career after the RWC and shall go there as one of the best scrum halves in world rugby. His solo try against France was not enough to complete a what would have been a memorable victory after team mate and R15 wearer Sam Warburtons red card early in the game.
