Rugby Boot Spotting – RBS Six Nations, 4th and 5th February 2012
It was an entertaining first weekend of the 2012 Six Nations which was rounded off by a nail bitting finish at the Aviva Stadium. France overcame Italy in the opening game on Saturday which was followed by an England win against Scotland at Murrayfield. On Sunday, Ireland took on Wales in a close fought match which was won by a Leigh Halfpenny penalty late on.
This weeks rugby boot spotting features at least one player from each team from the weekends game. Firstly from the opening game is France’s Maxime Medard in a pair of Nike Legend rugby boots and Andrea Masi of Italy in Puma v1.11 rugby boots. At Murrayfield, Scotland prop Alan Jacobsen was wearing Mizuno Timaru rugby boots whilst England try scorer Charlie Hodgson was spotted in the new colour way of the Adidas Predator RX rugby boots. Rory Best was playing in the new R15 II rugby boots and standout player from the weekend George North was seen in a pair of RS7 II’s.
Maxime Medard
Plays for: Toulouse and France
Wears: Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite Rugby Boots White, Siren Red & Silver

Medard has made the 15 shirt his own over the past 12 months and will be looking to form an intimidating back three partnership with Vincent Clerc and Julien Malzieu. The Tiempo Legend rugby boots are a becoming a popular choice among players with Northampton and England full back Ben Foden recently switching to them from the Nike CTR 360s.
Andrea Masi
Plays for: Aironi and Italy
Wears: Puma v1.11 SG Rugby Boots Black, White & Blaze Yellow

The 2011 ‘Player of the Tournament’ didn’t have his best game against the French. This was mainly due to the fact that the majority of what he had to do was defensive work. Masi was the final player that France winger Malzieu stepped on his way to his fine try.
Alan Jacobsen
Plays for: Edinburgh and Scotland
Wears: Mizuno Timaru SG Rugby Boots Black & Lime

Jacobsen did well in a scrum that struggled against a fierce England pack. He got himself around the field well and offered himself as a ball carrying option on numerous occasion – even breaking the line every now and again.
Charlie Hodgson
Plays for: Saracens and England
Wears: Adidas Predator RX SG Rugby Boots Black & High Energy Orange

It was Hodgsons charge down try which proved decisive in the low scoring game. The fly half had Saracens team mates Owen Farrell and Brad Barritt outside him which made him look more comfortable compared to previous performances in the white shirt.
Rory Best
Wears: Adidas R15 II SG Rugby Boots Black & Blue

The Ulsterman was on the end of a fine Ireland passing move which saw him touch down in the corner to give his side a half time lead. Best was also wearing the Adidas Pro Rugby Headguard II in a custom colourway to match the Ireland kit.
George North
Wears: Adidas adiZero RS7 II Pro SG Rugby Boots Black & High Energy Orange

Team mate Mike Phillips was given the man of the match award however the majority of viewers would have given their vote to North. He was destructive with ball in hand and managed to grab a try for himself along with setting up team mate Jonathan Davies for his second of the afternoon.
