Latest Rugby News from Lovell Rugby

The season is now over for the international players from the northern hemisphere, after Saturdays international test fixtures. Wales and Ireland could not prevent 3-0 series whitewashes as they once again lost to Australia and New Zealand respectively. England managed a 14-14 draw against South Africa to end their tour on a positive note. Scotland defeated Samoa 17-16 thanks to Joe Ansbro and Rob Harley.

There have been plenty of new boots on show during the summer tests, however some players have kept to old colourways and styles. Rob Horne has been wearing the Black/High Energy Orange RS7 II, Morne Steyn has kept to the Nike Vapor VIII, however switched to the colour clash colourway and All Blacks youngster Sam Cane made his first test start in a pair of Adidas R15 II’s.  Cian Healy was one of the only players to opt for the White/Black/Red Adidas Kakari and South Africa number nine Francois Hougaard showed off the new Puma evoSPEED 1 boot.

Rob Horne

Plays for: Waratahs and Australia

Wears: Adidas adiZero RS7 II Pro SG Rugby Boots Black & High Energy Orange

The 22 year olds second half try helped Australia to a 20-19 victory over Wales.  The pacy outside centre has been solid in all three tests and will be looking to cement his place in the national side. Horne has not moved in to the new Lab Lime/Prime Blue RS7 II colourway and has been spotted in the Adidas adiPower Predators earlier in the season so we are not sure what he will wear when he goes back to the Super XV.

Morne Steyn

Plays for: Bulls and South Africa

Wears: Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII SG Pro Euro 2012 Football Boots White, Black & Solar Red

The fly half only managed 9 points on Saturday in a game where his kicking was will below his usual standards. Steyn has been wearing Vapors for some time now and has recently been wearing the Bright Mango colourway however switched over to the White/Solar Red for the summer tests. The Bulls will be hoping Steyn is back to his best when they take on the Cheetahs this weekend.

Sam Cane

Plays for: Chiefs and New Zealand

Wears: Adidas R15 II SG Rugby Boots Black, Blue & White

Two tries in his first start for the young back row, who is seen as the long term replacement for Richie McCaw. The simple black/blue/white R15 II boots go well with the New Zealand kit and are worn by other team players including Adam Thomson and McCaw. After his performance at the weekend, some All Blacks fans are suggesting that McCaw gives up the number 7 shirt for Cane and switches to either 6 or 8.

Cian Healy

Plays for: Leinster and Ireland

Wears: Adidas adiPower Kakari Wide Fit SG Rugby Boots White, Black & Red

Against a ruthless New Zealand side on Saturday there was not much Healy could do to really affect the game a great deal. He did all that he could for the cause however the southern hemisphere side were just too good. Most players wearing the new Adidas adiPower Kakari boots have gone for black/red colourway however the Ireland prop has decided to standout in the white.

Francois Hougaard

Plays for: Bulls and South Africa

Wears: Puma evoSPEED 1 Euro 2012 FG Football Boots White/Limoges/Ribbon Red

Another busy performance from the talented scrum half and has now looks to have made the shirt his own ahead of Ulsterman Ruan Pienaar. We told a few weeks ago about Hougaard making the switch to Puma and is has done nothing to affect his game. The white evoSPEED 1 boots are eye catching on pitch just like Hougaard’s performances have been in recent weeks.
