Rugby Boot Spotting – Heineken Cup, 16th, 17th and 18th December
After the fourth round of Heineken Cup matches at the weekend, we can now predict who can be expected to make the next round of the competition. With last years runners-up Northampton Saints and fellow English side Bath both already knocked out, it is up to Saracens, Leicester and Harlequins to carry the flag for England. All three sides managed wins at the weekend with Quins win away to Toulouse being the highlight game of the weekend.
Rugby boots spotted from the weekend were Roberto Quartaroli of Aironi in a pair of Puma V1.11s rugby boots and David Strettle in a pair of white/siren red/silver Nike Legend rugby boots. Also spotted were Cardiff Blues Leigh Halfpenny in a pair of Adidas Predator rugby boots and Ugo Monye in the new colour way of the Nike CTR360 boots.
Plays for: Aironi and Italy
Substitute Quartaroli grabbed a try off the bench at the weekend but could not prevent a lose of 46-20 to the Irish side. The Puma v1.11 rugby boots are becoming increasingly common amongst players with Shane Williams and James O’Connor being the most high-profile of wearers.
Ex-Harlequin Strettle will be hoping to force his way back in to the England squad after a strong start to the season. This weekend was the first time that the new Legend rugby boot colourway had been worn out on pitch.
The Welsh utility back continues to improve and is sure to be in the starting XV for his country come the 6 nations. Halfpenny has continued to stick to the Predator rugby boot even though many other players in his position have now moved over to the RS7 rugby boots.
Monye, along with the other 14 Quins on the pitch, defended incredibly in France and managed to come away with the victory. Like the Legend, this was the first weekend that the new CTR360 colourway was worn on pitch.
