Rugby Boot Spotting – Heineken Cup 12th, 13th & 14th October 2012
Europes biggest club rugby competition is back and once again it didn’t fail to disappoint in its opening weekend. Although some fans may feel their team should have got more from their games, for the neutrals who enjoy watching world class rugby, they won’t feel let down.
There are currently a variety of new styles and colourways of boots being released and a number were on show over the weekend. There were two new Nike colourways on show; Jean Marc Doussain of Toulouse wore the latest T90 and Sale’s Rob Miller donned the new Tiempo Legend. Leinster fly-half Jonathan Sexton was wearing a pair of Adidas Predator Incurza’s, Ryan Jones kept it simple it a pair of Puma Esito Finale H8 rugby boots whilst Wales team-mate Alex Cuthbert grabbed a hat-trick in a pair of white Puma Evospeeds.
Jean Marc Doussain
Plays for: Toulouse and France
Wears: Nike Total 90 Laser IV SG Pro Football Boots Bright Crimson & Obsidian
It was his opposite number that got the headlines after the match for throwing away three points for the Tigers but you can’t ignore how well Doussain did to keep a calm head in such a high profile match. The future looks promising for the 21 year old and a solid season for his club may help him add to the single international cap he has at present.
Rob Miller
Plays for: Sale Sharks
Wears: Nike Tiempo Legend IV SG Pro Football Boots Soar Blue & White
Miller helped Sale come back from being 12 points down at half time as the Sharks grabbed their first victory of the season. After finishing the last campaign as the Aviva Premierships top try scorer, we don’t think it will be long until he features in an England squad. The full back finished the game with 7 points from the boot.
Jonathan Sexton
Plays for: Leinster and Ireland
Wears: Adidas Predator Incurza XT SG Rugby Boots Black, Royal & Lime
The reigning champions were expected to comfortably beat Exeter Chiefs in their HC opener however the English side had other ideas. In a game where most would have expected the Leinster fly-half to finish with a 15+ point haul, all he could manage was three penalties that were enough for the win. It is a big season for Sexton as he looks to secure a spot in the Lions squad.
Ryan Jones
Wears: Puma Esito Finale H8 SG Rugby Boots Black, White & Green
Utility forward Jones put in a sold performance in both attack and defence as his side beat Treviso by 38 points to 17. There are a number of top players competing for places in the Wales and Lions squad this season however it would come as not great shock to see him take a place in both as he can cover a number of positions.
Alex Cuthbert
Plays for: Cardiff Blues and Wales
Wears: Puma Evospeed 1 Euro 2012 K Leather FG Football Boots White, Limoges & Ribbon Red
Not very often does a player score a hat-trick and end up on the losing team however on Sunday it was Cuthberts turn to be in the awkward situation. The winger scored his three tries before half-time however a Danny Cipriani inspired performance turned the game on its head. The Wales winger is an undoubted talent and has a good chance of making the Lions tour.

RYAN JONES is wearing the Puma King Finale H8 SG Rugby Boots, and not the take down Esito. You can tell because he has the green line running underneath the white section by the studs that the King has that the Esito does not have. The Player tackling him is wearing the ever rare but good looking Diadora’s.
