Sergio Parisse is not the only player to have used the Six Nations to show that they have switched rugby boots. Wales fly half Rhys Priestland has moved in the opposite direction to Parisse and changed from Adidas to Nike. The young welshman has always worn Adidas Predator rugby boots during his professional career but has now moved to Nike and given two different pairs of boots a run out.

Priestland wore a pair of black, yellow and silver Total 90 Laser IV rugby boots against Ireland in the first game of his sides Six Nations campaign. The 4th edition of the T90 Laser series features a specially designed upper and a side lacing system. This combined with the alternate eyelet holes gives the boot a cleaner kicking surface. These are the same boots as Leicester Tigers and England fly half Toby Flood wears.

In the game against Scotland, the Scarlets fly half decided to switch from the Total 90s to the black and orange Tiempo Legend rugby boots which are growing in popularity amongst professional players. The boot has a kangaroo leather upper for superior fit and lightweight TPU outsole so that players can maximise their speed. The likes of Owen Farrell and Aurelien Rougerie are both currently wearing the white & siren red colourway.

It will be intersesting to see which pair Priestland opts for when Wales take on England in just over a weeks time. We do not know the reason behind the switch from the Nike Total 90′s to Nike Tiempo Legend rugby boots but we expect it was either to give both pairs a try out in a match situation (or he simply did not feel comfortable in the Total 90′s!).
