Poppy Appeal Rugby Shirts Now Available at Lovell Rugby
On Sunday 11th November we will pay tribute to those who have served in the Armed forces both past and present. The Royal British Legion are currently running their annual Poppy Appeal as they look to safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who have served for their country. The traditional red poppy’s are currently available to buy with Samurai releasing two shirts for the occasion to help raise extra money for the charity.
The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem “In Flanders Fields”. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilled in the war. On both shirts, poppies are included in the design to show what the shirt is in aid of.
The British Army Poppy Appeal Rugby Shirt commemorates the 90th Anniversary of the Royal Legion and exemplifies respect for our armed forces with a simple yet evocative design of red poppies spread across a white background. The British Army Rugby Union logo takes pride of place on the left chest with the 90th Anniversary Royal British Legion logo centrally positioned beneath the collar. A standard British Legion badge also appears on the left sleeve. Looking at the reverse of the shirt and the patriotic theme continues with the Union Flag subtly positioned below the collar and accompanied by “Army” written in black. As a finishing touch, on the waist is the poignant wording “Lest We Forget” which perfectly optimises what this rugby shirt represents.
The British Army Ltd Edition Poppy Appeal Remembrance Day Rugby Shirt depicts a silhouetted war scene, with the front honouring the past whilst the rear is a slice of modern day life on the front-line. Poignant poppies decorate both sides and act as an iconic remembrance to our fallen heroes. For the look and feel of a professional rugby shirt, the British Army and Samurai badges appear in a sublimated format either side of the chest whilst the Royal British Legion is represented atop the left sleeve. To complete the design, on the back of the shirt the British Army flag is featured and accompanied by the sombre wording ‘All Gave Some, Some Gave All.’
A percentage of the profit made from the sales of these shirt will also be donated to the Royal British Legion.
