Latest Rugby News from Lovell Rugby

Saturdays morning’s early kick-off did not just mark the start of this years summer Tests, it also gave us the first outing of the latest adidas rugby boot creations. All four silos; adiPower Kakari, FF80, Predator Incurza and adiZero RS7 feature a striking ‘Solar Red’ colour which certainly catches the eye on pitch.

All the points in the game were scored by players wearing the adidas Predator Incurzas. One of those wearers being All Blacks centre Conrad Smith who scored the winning try late on in the second half. Below we have written a brief overview of each boot and the names of some of the players that sported them at the weekend.

Designed for perfect traction and stability at scrum time, the new Kakari certainly delivers. The addition of a Powerband overlay allows the boot to offer more support in the midfoot and heel whilst on the heel, extra padding is now in place for greater protection and comfort. The boot is lighter than its predecessor thanks to the new bravo synthetic upper. Dane Coles and Joe Marler (below) both sported the new boot on Saturday.

Being first to the breakdown is sure to give your team an advantage but securing the ball is where a game can be won or lost and this is where the FF80 comes into their own. A 7th stud at the toe of the boot creates a traction tripod which helps to improve stability when in the jackal position. A popular choice with the like of Brodie Retallick (above) and Richie McCaw.

The Predator Incurza has become a popular boot amongst professionals and amateurs alike and now enters its third generation. The boot features two hybrid sl rubber kicking zones for ultimate control and accuracy whilst the combination of a lace cover and asymetrical lacing provides a third larger kicking zone. Worn by the likes of Aaron Cruden (below) and Danny Cipriani.

If you scroll up then you may notice England’s Ben Youngs in the alternative Solar Red/Running White/Black colourway.

It is hard to miss the latest RS7 colourway on pitch. The stunning ‘Solar Red’ sits prominently atop the ‘Running White’ base. The sprint skin upper keeps the boots low on the scales and across the forefoot a rubberised print has been applied for improved kick control. As well as being worn by speedsters, they are also worn by powerhouses Ma’a Nonu and Manu Tuilagi (both above).

Richie McCaw doesn’t wear a front stud in his FF80′s, they’re custom I think. http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Richie+Mccaw/New+Zealand+v+England/8WQORbakOoS
