Matt Banahan Spotted in Puma Powercat Rugby Boots
Bath and England utility back Matt Banahan seems to have switched his choice of rugby boots from Adidas to Puma. After a large number of footballers have recently made the move to Puma, it now seems that rugby players are following in the same direction.
Banahan has sported both Adidas Predator RX Rugby Boots and more recently adiZero RS7 Rugby Boots but now seems to have chosen the Puma Powercat C 1.12 Rugby Boots as his preferred boot of choice. Like most boots now available on the market, the Puma Powercat is known as a football boot but due to the enhanced technology and resources available, it equally suits rugby players. Measuring in at 6ft 7 inches and weighing over 18 stone, Matt Banahan requires a solid boot in order to allow him to hit his maximum speed. The white/blue/gold colourway also goes very well with the Bath home shirt.
The Bath star will be hoping to keep his place in the England Elite Player Squad for the 2012 Six Nations and force his way in to the starting XV for the first game against Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday 5th February. Banahans England career has mainly been from the bench but with the likes of Mike Tindall and Mark Cueto not being expected to feature in Stuart Lancasters squad, the Jerseyman will be looking to secure a role either on the wing or in the centres.
The boot has a soft K-Leather upper and a lightweight microfiber material in the lateral quarter to support the mid-foot, help keep the weight down, and create a sporty look. The boot also features PUMA PowerLast which offers a stable yet flexible out-sole which in turn creates a more comfortable fit while the asymmetrical external TPU-injected heel counter provides optimal support, stability, and protection against outer forces.
Puma boots are gaining popularity with rugby players at both amateur and professional level with the likes of Manu Tuilagi (Leicester Tigers and England) and James O’Connor (Melbourne Rebels and Australia) both sporting the brand.
