Lovell Rugby Reviews the Nike CTR 360 Maestri II SG Rugby Boots White and Purple
Over recent seasons, the Nike CTR 360 has become one of the more popular boots among loose forwards and backs with several international players switching to the boot from another in the Nike boot range.
The likes of Courtney Lawes, Ben Foden and Chris Ashton have all been wearing the new white and purple colourway since the Rugby World Cup Quarter Final between England and France.
One of the main features of the boot is Kanga-Lite synthetic leather upper which is designed to be water-resistant, offer an improved fit and make the boots more durable and easy to clean
Although the majority of features are designed for football, these can be carried over to rugby players. The lacing is asymmetrical meaning there is an increased area to kick the ball and gain extra yards around the field. This is vital for the likes of Ben Foden who are often in situations where an up and under is the most sensible choice.
The boot has six studs which can be changed for longer studs (21mm) by front five forwards such as Courtney Lawes who need a solid boot which offers as much traction as possible at the scrum but need a lightweight boot for getting around the field.

Soft ground studded boots are ideal for playing in wet conditions where grip is hard to come by. The boots ESA sock liners include an extra insert which improves the cushioning and reduce stud pressure when the ground is harder.

For speedsters such as Chris Ashton, they require a boot which is lightweight and helps to maximise their pace. The CTR 360 does this due to the flex grooves that have been installed in the front half of the boot which gives you a more natural and efficient range of motion.

What do you think of the Nike CTR 360 Maestri II SG Rugby Boots – would you wear them? If not, what rugby boots would you prefer?
