Henson Has No Intention Of Retiring
Gavin Henson has blasted back at rumours circulating that he is planning to retire. The Ospreys, Wales and Former British and Irish Lions centre is, at 27, in the prime of his career and retirement would have been a big surprise to many.
Following a meeting with officials at the Ospreys, Henson said: “I’ve certainly been having difficulties with the recurring injury but I have absolutely no intention of quitting the game.
“I’m receiving the best medical care to help me address the injury problem and I’m sure that I’ll be able to put it behind me in the very near future.”
The hugely talented centre was reported to be gutted at missing the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa when he injured his achilles against Gloucester in the EDF Cup semi final at Coventry’s Richoh Arean earliar this year.
Henson (who wears Nike Mercurial Vapor Rugby boots) has won 31 Welsh caps and has played all ten of the games in which Wales have achived two grand slams in 2005 and 2008.
This is great news for the Ospreys who hope Henson can now rediscover his best and help the Region try and win the Holly grale of Club Rugby the Heineken Cup with Fellow stars Lee Bryne, Jerry Collins, Shane Williams, Mike Phillips and James Hook.
