Scotland and Glasgow Flyer Thom Evans forced to retire
Scotland flyer Thom Evans will sadly not be able to make a fairy-tale comeback from the spinal injury suffered playing for Scotland last season.
Evans crashed into Lee Byrne during the Six Nations clash with Wales, damaging two vertebrae.
The 25-year-old was stretchered off the field in a neck brace and as the severity of his condition emerged it was reported that the on-field care by physios and Dr James Robson, the experienced Scottish medic, had played a significant role in ensuring he did not suffer permanent paralysis.

Henson To Return To Rugby In September
Gavin Henson, the 28 year-old Ospreys and Wales centre is said to have told the Welsh region that he wants to restart his career next season, 18 months after his last match.
The controversial Welshman (Who wears Nike Rugby boots), has been on unpaid leave from the Ospreys all season after a string of injuries left him feeling depressed and lacking in motivation.
But now, the Ospreys joint managing director Mike Cuddy has said that his star turn has indicated a return to action in five months’ time – exactly a year before the 2011 World Cup gets underway in New Zealand.
“Gavin has been honest with me all along,” said Cuddy.
“He has told me he will be back next season and playing before the end of the year. All the injuries, especially the prolonged ones over his groin and achilles tendon, got him down. He took a break and now he’s feeling all the better for it.”
Henson’s return would be greeted with genuine enthusiasm by Wales, who have sorely missed his creativity.
His last game in the Ospreys’ EDF Energy Cup semi-final against Gloucester 13 months ago, a ‘soul destroying’ blow which eliminated him from the Lions.
He has missed all but 14 of Wales’ 59 internationals in the last five years due to a succession of groin, hernia, calf, hand, achilles tendon and ankle-ligament problems.
If he does return, it will be with next year’s World Cup very much in mind. After all, depsite his achievements with Wales and the British and Irish Lions, he has never played in the tournament, being ruled out of the last two through poor performances in 2003 and injury in 2007.

Mike Phillips Signs New 4 Year Deal With The Ospreys
The Ospreys have announced that prize asset scrum-half Mike Phillips had signed a four-year contract with the region. It is thought that the Ospreys had to fight off interest from Several French and English Clubs aswell as the Stormers in South Africa.
The news brings an end to speculation surrounding the future of a player who has been at the Ospreys since joining in the summer of 2007, making his debut in a 13-13 Magners League draw against Edinburgh at Murrayfield in October that year, following his delayed arrival at the Liberty Stadium due to his involvement in the Rugby World Cup.
Capped 38 times by Wales and three times by the Lions, 27-year old Phillips (who wears Adidas Predator X rugby boots) has recently returned from an injury lay-off after suffering ligament damage in the win over Clermont Auvergne at the Liberty Stadium last October, coming off the bench in the recent Magners League game against Connacht.

Cipriani’s ties with Wasps will be cut at the end of the season, although a return is likely and discussions on that subject are ongoing.

“However, knowing his reasons are based on rugby and personal development, we as a Club support his decision.
