Lovell Rugby Team Of The Year 2009

Here in the office, much debate has gone into picking the Lovell Rugby World Team Of The Year 2009. It really has been a great year for Rugby. After much deliberation, here is our team of the year:
15- Rob Kearney- Ireland
The Leinster Full Back (who wears Nike Laser 3 Rugby Boots) with a siege gun left boot. He helped Ireland win the Grand Slam, Leinster win their first Heineken cup and played outstanding for the Lions in South Africa.
14- Corey Jane- New Zealand
The Hurricanes man is more happy at Fullback, although has had a great year on the wing. He played the majority of games for the All Blacks this season and scored some really important tries. Is as good going forward as is going back, which is vital in the modern game.

Lovell Rugby RBS Six Nations Team Of The Tournament
Following a great Six Nations, all of use here at Lovell Rugby have been discussing our ‘Team of the Tournament’ made up of what we think to be the best players from this years Tournament. We have posted our team below:
15- Delon Armitage- England
Boots - Adidas Predator Powerswerve Rugby
A highly successful first championship for the London Irish full back, has looked safe under high ball and dangerous in attack with his pace and skill. Edges out Wales Lee Bryne as ankle injury held the Welshman back slightly.

Ireland - Grand Slam Winners 2009
The Ireland class of 2009 became only the second from the Emerald Isle to claim a European clean sweep of rugby on Saturday, beating Wales 17-15 in Cardiff for the first Irish Grand Slam since 1948, courtesy of Ronan O’Gara’s (Wearing his Adidas Predator powerswerve rugby boots) late drop goal.
An extraordinary finale saw Wales fly-half Stephen Jones miss a late long-range penalty to hand Ireland their crown in a gripping game of rugby.
By the end, most were on their knees. Some Irish even kissed the turf! The entirety of Irish rugby, save a few octogenarians in the stands, experienced a new level of sporting euphoria, shared an experience hitherto only dreamed about. They all now know what it is to be a Grand Slam champion - and having been a matter of inches away from losing it! Most looked as though they didn’t know how to react or what to do.
