Wilkinson, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, arrived at the club last summer from Newcastle, where he had played since making his professional debut in 1997.
The 30-year-old, a World Cup winner in 2003 and finalist four years later, is the leading scorer in the Top 14 with 177 points.

Who Would Be In Your England Team For The Opening Game Against Wales?

With 3 weeks to go before the opening round of the Six Nations championship talk in the office is of who is on form and possible selections for England’s Opening Match against Wales.
Lovell Rugby thinks the game will be vital especially for England, who could do with a win to give them confidence for the rest of the championship. The championship which we think is more open than most think. Most people would suggest Ireland are Favourites at this stage after a solid Autumn international period. Although this year all teams are capable of turning each other over.
After Englands indifferent but slightly improving form in November and the return of Key players from Injury Lovell Rugby is fairly optimistic England can rediscover winning ways.
We have been watching the Guinness Preimership closely and Heineken cup closely monitoring players from to see who are the favouries to start at Twickenham.

Johnson Calls Up Ashton and Hape
Northampton and Former Wigan Warriors Rugby League winger Chris Ashton (who wears Nike Vapor Rugby Boots) has been rewarded for his fine form this season with a place in England’s revised elite squad for the Six Nations.
Ashton currently tops the Guinness Premiership try-scoring charts this season having crossed nine times, with the 22-year-old proving to be a big hit at Franklin’s Gardens since crossing codes from Wigan Warriors.
And Ashton has been Martin Johnson’s new-look squad as an injury call-up in place of the sidelined PhilVickery.

Lovell Rugby Team Of The Year 2009

Here in the office, much debate has gone into picking the Lovell Rugby World Team Of The Year 2009. It really has been a great year for Rugby. After much deliberation, here is our team of the year:
15- Rob Kearney- Ireland
The Leinster Full Back (who wears Nike Laser 3 Rugby Boots) with a siege gun left boot. He helped Ireland win the Grand Slam, Leinster win their first Heineken cup and played outstanding for the Lions in South Africa.
14- Corey Jane- New Zealand
The Hurricanes man is more happy at Fullback, although has had a great year on the wing. He played the majority of games for the All Blacks this season and scored some really important tries. Is as good going forward as is going back, which is vital in the modern game.

Salary Cap For French Top 14 For 2010/2011 season

The French National Rugby League, have announced the implementation of a salary cap for clubs in France from the 2010-2011 season.
The organisation that controls both the Top 14 and ProD2 clubs, voted to restrict the spending of France’s top clubs on December 16 in their annual meeting held in Paris.
From the start of next season, clubs will be limited to a salary budget of 8 million Euros, or £7.1 Million.
That figure is still considerably higher than the limit in the Guinness Premiership, which stands at £4.4 million, although the figure is expected to be increased in the near future.

Lovell Rugby Round Up from around the Globe #2

New Zealand finished their Tri Nations Campaign on a high after Thumping bitter Rivals Australia in Wellington on Saturday night 33-6. The All Blacks were keen to finish with a win before they play the Wallabies again in Japan for the Bledisloe cup and then tour Europe in the Autumn. The All Blacks scored 3 tries from Corey Jane, Maa Nonu and Joe Rokocoko. Dan Cater (wearing his Adidas Predator Powerswerve Rugby boots) added 16 points from the kicking tee. The Wallabies only points came from a Matt Giteau Penalty and Berrick Barnes drop goal. Australia will consider this a poor Tri-Nations after they were backed to do well after good performances against the Touring French and Italians.

Argentina Gain Revenge Over England

Argentina enacted revenge for their defeat to England in Manchester last week, with a bullying 24-22 win in Salta on Saturday.
Hernandez landed a stream of first-half penalties to compound an early English error at the line-out that led to a simple try for Juan Manuel Leguizamon, with Andy Goode only able to reply with one as the Pumas held their line and their nerve.
That last bit was also important, in the face of some stiff provocation from the English side, whose loss of discipline under presasure will have likely infuriated Martin Johnson more than the result. (more…)

England Beat Puma’s at Theatre Of Dreams
England recorded an immediate response to last week’s Barbarians upset by edging past Argentina 37-15 at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Both Teams were without several of their regular pillars in Manchester - England due to British & Irish Lions commitments while the Top 14 Final weakened the Pumas - but there was ample talent on show as Juan Martín Hernández proved.
The Stade Français playmaker was in fine fettle against the flowing locks of Brive’s number ten, with Goode only winning the drop-goal battle by leading England past the side that ended Andy Robinson’s reign in November 2006. (more…)
