Over the weekend of the 11th & 12th May, Rugby HQ will be transformed into a wild safari scene as the 2013 Sevens World Series descends on London for the climax of this years competition.

Each year thousands of fans turn out in a variety of fancy dress outfits and so this year the RFU have decided to get in on the action ahead of time and declared the London Sevens tournament as a ‘Safari’ theme. With event ticket sales at an all-time high, excitement is reaching fever pitch as Twickenham readies itself for the fast paced Sevens action.

With over 100,000 fans expected to pass through the turnstiles over the weekend, many of which will be in fancy dress, the Sevens game has truly captured the imagination and brought fans together of every age and nationality.

As part of the launch for the London Sevens, a number of players revealed their animal instincts by dressing up for a unique photo shoot at Twickenham. Leading the England pack was the World Series leading try scorer, Dan Norton, aptly decorated as a cheetah due to his lightning speed.

Of course it’s not all about dressing up as there is the all-important business of rugby to attend to on the pitch. With all still to play for going into the penultimate tournament in Scotland, a number of nations can still claim the Sevens World Series title. New Zealand are the undeniable favourites with a commanding lead at the top but South Africa, Fiji and Samoa can all mathematically still win although realistically they are competing for the runners-up position.

Naturally, England will be looking to impose their presence in front of their home fans and sign-off this years competition in style, to add to their victory in New Zealand. They will also be sporting their new kit made by Canterbury, which has already provided much debate and will hope to be a winning on-field look in London.
